It’s the ultimate status symbol—with a price to match. Once again Sony as sony vgp-bps8 is shaking up the very clichéd netbook category, this time with a design that is not only half as light and half as thin other machines in its class, but also includes a battery that lasts twice as long as many models. didn’t stop there, adding integrated 3G and GPS for those mobile tycoons who are able to afford its sticker price ($1,299 to start, $1,499 as configured). Yes, this ultraportable is not for everyone, but for those who want to travel really, really light, the VAIO VGN-FZ Series may be worth the splurge.
Design

Sony touts the VAIO X as the world’s lightest notebook, and at 1.4 pounds (with the four-cell battery), it is; even the, which has a similar processor but a smaller 7.0-inch screen, weighs 1.8 pounds. When you put the extended battery of battery on the VAIO VGN-FZ, the weight—2.2 pounds—is still more than half a pound lighter than most 10-inch netbooks.

Measuring 11.0 x 7.3 x 0.6 inches (without the extended battery), the VAIO VGN-FZ rivals the in terms of thickness; however, its footprint is similar to other netbooks with the same screen size. When the extended battery is attached (by means of two screws that give the underside a quasi-steampunk feel), the back of the system is raised up by about 0.3 inches, and slants towards the user. The battery
So how was able to achieve such a thin and light netbook? is made of a magnesium alloy, and the lid is built from carbon fiber. This material allows the screen to flex, which can be a bit unnerving, but Sony said that it’s designed to bend somewhat. Also, by using an Intel Atom Z-series processor, which uses less power (and creates less heat) than the N-series Atom chips in most netbooks, the company was able to make the netbook incredibly slim without requiring a fan.

Simple Tips to Increase Computer Speed PDF Print E-mail

After even a couple weeks of use, a new computer can experience noticeable reductions in speed. Browsing the web, playing games and even using productivity software can become a slow endeavor. Fortunately there are some things you can do to increase the speed of your computer. I suggest backing up your important data before trying any of these tips. This guide is for Windows users.

Windows operating systems have a program where you can clear out any temporary files. Temp files are ones that you do not need to keep, but have been kept in a buffer which needs to be cleared occasionally. Clear out all temporary files to remove junk from the hard drive. If you keep a large amount of files on the drive, consider clearing these too. A jumble of files, especially unorganized ones, can make it harder for the hard drive to process information quickly. Large files can also make virus scanning and file searches longer because these programs have to search through a lot of data that is obviously safe.

When you browse the internet, your computer saves a variety of files like cookies and "temporary internet files". These should be cleared frequently to prevent build up. Also, you can set a limit for the quantity of files to keep, and how far back in time the records should be kept. This can be done in the Tools section of your browser.

Viruses are notorious for slowing down computers, which is why you need to take precautions so you never get one. Reliable virus protection software such as McAfee and Norton has passive systems which can monitor your computer at all times. There is also a free virus protection software by Microsoft called Windows Defender. Keep the software updated so it can detect the latest threats. Set the program for automatic scanning in case you forget. You can set it to work in your off time such as early morning or late night so it doesn't slow down your computer while you work.

Serial to USB converter PDF Print E-mail

Almost all the computers and especially laptops these days have many USB ports instead of COM and serial ports. This yet again becomes a major disadvantage and does not satisfy people with COM port and Serial cable supporting devices wanting to connect their computers to those devices. This in turn results in a major drop in the sales of the devices with their output cables as serial cables because more customers would want a device which has an output in the form of a USB cable and not a serial cable port.

To rectify this problem, many manufacturers and developers came out with an idea to convert the serial ports into USB ports. And eventually this turned out to be a success and serial to USB converter cables are widely available in the city’s markets. This has in return brought up the sales of the electronic good and supporting devices with Serial COM ports.

The Serial to USB converter cable takes the output of the required device in form of a Serial cable and lets out its own output as a USB compatible port.

The USB extender is also known as the USB booster. This allows you to extend or boost the service of the USB to computer from way far out. Basically the task of the USB extender is to lengthen the scope of the previously present USB cable to a much wider one. The USB extender is very useful in many places such as offices and work places. The USB extender is a long wire which has a USB connection socket in one end and adapter attached to it.

USB connections are growing in comparison with earlier times. There are several devices launched around the globe and more than 80% of the devices have USB port access only in them. All the regularly used machines and devices in the offices and workplaces are USB based, like USB printers, USB fax machines, USB copiers and many more devices. USB adapters can transfer the required data to up to more than 100 meters distance from the source or the destination.

There are simple USB extenders and as well as USB extender hubs. These USB hubs are more costly but are more efficient and compact to use. The USB hub extenders generally have four USB slots. This is very advantageous because you need not over load your CPU cabinet with USB jacks and you need not go in search of each of the USB cables each and every time you disconnect it or re connect it.
